First Time Host, Story of Tien Nguyen

– The best part about life?

– Every morning you have a new opportunity to become a better version of yourself.

It is exactly how I feel every day waking up. I am Tien Nguyen, a third year student at Hue Tourism Faculty. I have been doing my two-month internship at Beebee Travel as a tour guide trainee during Hue Free Walking Tour. You know what I learn so far?

I find a better, happier and more mature version of myself! I’ve been observing and learning a lot from our lead hosts of Beebee Team who are very passionate about telling stories of Hue. I always appreciate that beginning which laid a good foundation that shaped me nowadays.

Today is a special day of my life… Keep calm and wait what I am telling you!

This morning was the first time I’ve led Hue Free Walking Tour with the lady who significantly played a role as my first client. To mark my epic move, Buddha created many big and short showers followed by some real heats to make it more dramatic. But wait, I was not nervous at all!

My client’s name is Prue, 41 years old, comes from Australia. She lives in her rental house in South-Eastern Australia near the beach with two dogs. She told me that she has worked for her company for over 10 years, she received a one month long vacation in Vietnam as a gift for her hard-working efforts.

Prue from Australia. A lot of Cokes did not help cool the heat down!

For me, my first experience was so meaningful. I had only one client so my attention was on her! I told many stories of Hue, followed by some historical evidence to prove what I told her was what happened in the past. She didn’t ask me many questions. She honestly admitted that she’s not good at making questions so I asked her to make sure that she understood everything. I did not feel like our relationship was tour guide and client, in fact, it was more like friends eager to share and learn from each other. Our tour was ended a big smile on her face that made me believe that I’ve had a fruitful start. This is what she has written to me on TripAdvisor.

From now on, I’m a better self and also more confident than before. I will not stop here for sure. I am eager to accept new challenge in the future to become a great host for my country.

With my boss, Thu Ngo Vu (the middle), a kind and loving person who always encourages us to do better everyday, and Lien Tran (the right hand), my co-worker at Beebee Travel.

If you’ve ever heard a saying “Be brave! If you’re not, pretend to be”, I believe I’m a brave girl dare to walk in rain this morning to grow faster and stronger!

Tien Nguyen.
