My husband and I went on two tours with Beebee travel, the city walking tour and the foodie tour. We booked the city tour by email two days before our arrival in Hue, after reading reviews in TA. Thu was very responsive to my email request, and Van, a very enthusiastic, young woman who spoke ok English met us promptly at 9 am and we went on our walking tour pretty much all day.
The tour cost $16 per person. It seemed like a very fair price for an half day private tour, and we liked Van very much. With her help, we were able to try different foods and fruits at the market that we had seen and were curious about but only wanted to buy one or try a small amount. She gave us a tutorial on the Citadel and the structures within, took us to a very good restaurant to enjoy local Hue food for lunch, arranged for a taxi to see the Thien Mu Pagoda, and another restaurant for us to try the famous beef noodle soup. It was an interesting day and Van was engaging.
We also did the Foodie Tour with Tu and his associate, a very nice young woman. His English was very good; his associate’s English was ok. The tour cost $35 per person. They were early picking us up at our hotel, and were extremely cautious drivers on their scooters with my husband and me riding in back (with helmets). We felt very safe the entire evening. The tour was terrific. The food was good to great at a variety of different restaurants and street food locations that we would never have found on our own or through TA or any other internet sights. My husband wanted to try duck eggs with baby ducks, and they took us to a great street food vendor so he could try it. We had interesting conversation the entire evening with our guides, who were well educated and informed (and willing to share their thoughts). Would highly recommend the tour.
Beebee Travel – Excellent City Tour; Foodie Tour; Touring Arrangements
Our group spent 4D/3N in Hue and arranged various activities with Beebee travel prior (3 mos. ahead) to our arrival. We choose Beebee travel based on positive TA reviews and we were not disappointed. Excellent arrangements, outstanding guides, and great service by the Beebee team. Thu (agency owner) is very hands on, super responsive, and very flexible to changes in our itinerary.
We arranged a day long Hue Citadel + Tombs tour with guide and driver. Also an evening Hue Foodie tour and a day long transport to Hoi An with a planned day of hiking at Bach Ma National Park. Last minute changes (mainly due to weather – rain) necessitated changing the foodie tour from motorbike to van. Also we changed a hiking day at Bach Ma NP to transport only to Hoi An due to weather. These last minute changes were no problem for Thu et.al. So, again outstanding customer service and responsiveness by Beebee travel.
Anyway, the Hue Citadel/Tombs tour was customized to how we wanted it. Our guide was informative, interesting, and one of the best guides of our month long trip to Vietnam. The Foodie tour was also excellent. We had 2 guides and we visited restaurants, food stalls that otherwise we would have had no idea to visit. Thu joined us at the tail end of our Foodie tour. Again, a very hands on approach by Beebee owner to ensure good customer service.
I can’t say enough good things about Thu, her team and Beebee travel. They did an outstanding job for our group. I would not hesitate to use Beebee travel for any arrangements/advice about Hue or Vietnam in general.
Bottomline…. Beebee Travel – Highly Recommended!
Excellent Tour of Imperial City and Food Tour
Knowledgeable, energetic guides who gave us excellent tours. We only had limited time in Hue, so we were very glad to have been recommended to this tour company by some fellow travelers. It made the most of our short time there. We did the Imperial City tour, followed right after by the city food tour. The food tour was especially fun. We each had a guide assigned to us, who took us around on a scooter throughout the town, and met up with the group at each new food locale. It was a great way to see the city, and to experience a lot of places and foods we wouldn’t have ordinarily found. Also a great way to make a connection with a local person, to find out what life is like for them in their own city, and to have. The group dynamics were a lot of fun as well. A great experience overall.
Informative and fun food tour on scooters!
We took part in the food tour on our first night in Hue and it turned out to be a fantastic way to kick off our stay. We were met at our hotel and rode around town on the back of scooters visiting various cafes/restaurants/street vendors to try out local specialities. Su and Nguyen were great company – providing information about the food, about Hue, and Vietnam in general. After the tour they also emailed us with info about where to get the best deal on local coffee!
If you want a fun evening out, to try food you really don’t necessarily see in the more touristy Vietnamese restaurants, then this is a tour for you. Absolute recommend.
What a gem! From the reception at the owner’s home (which I accidentally went to thinking it was the office) to the tour guide hand-off for late evening snacks they went above and beyond! Besides the classic Bun Bo Hue, here are some other things to try: green mango with salt/pepper, mangosteen, vietnamese pizza, Nem lui and banh uot heo quay. Delicious! For the adventurous, yeast drink and frog legs. Thanks Duan and Hooang for stimulating conversations about Gordon Ramsay, novels, superstition and barbarism, so fun 🙂
